IMG_20150118_133353_121-mission-croppedPS-smaller to post  “Mission Dolores” in San Francisco   Day 14 painting

I am so pleased that I have completed one painting yesterday and two today. If, by some miracle, I could finish the one that’s almost done before today ends, I’ll only be 2 behind-oops, when today ends, it will be the 19th and I will still be trailing by three… Darn – I thought I was making progress!

This one is from a photo I took when we were in San Francisco in 2010 and I have meant to paint it since then. I love the light and shadow; it seemed an obvious choice to make it a monochromatic painting. Drawing it was more than a little challenge, with all the posts and those angles and steps. It’s so nice to not only finish a project, but be truly happy with it too!

  1. That is lovely! You have very good cause to be happy with that one.

Today will be m 14th painting on day 19. I’ve only managed to paint 2 in one day once so I’m not holding out much hope for all 30. lol.

Thank you, Elisha! I won’t say I feel good that someone else is struggling to finish one per day, but it is nice to know I’m not the only one! So many just seem to have no problem getting them done each day. I wonder if they paint really quickly or if they simply do nothing else with their time… I’ve just been sitting here drawing a new one because I don’t feel like working on any of the three that I already have ready to paint. So, the odds of catching up seem to be getting worse with each passing day. Oh well, it’s really about doing a lot of painting and hopefully learning more along the way.

  2. Yes! It is more about the learning and just painting more than you were before. At least according to Leslie’s podcast.

I think a lot of people probably paint ahead. That’s what she recommends. I don’t though and I started late so I’m not too worried about getting all 30. Even if I stopped now, I’d already have more paintings than I painted in the last couple years combined. And it’s only January!

What a great start to the year!
